Mount Lu, or Lushan, was named after a hermit named Kuang Su, who built a hut (lu) there during the reign of King Wu of Zhou. The mountain is majestic, with clear waters and stunning scenery, bordering three rivers.
However, often shrouded in mist and clouds, its true appearance was hard for people to discern. This phenomenon inspired the famous Song Dynasty poet Su Shi to write in his poem "On the Wall of Xilin Temple": "From the side, a range; from the front, a peak; far or near, high or low, it's different. I don't know the true face of Mount Lu, only because I am in this mountain."
