Story:

During the Spring and Autumn period, Princess Nongyu, daughter of Duke Mu of Qin, was exceptionally skilled at playing the xiao (a vertical bamboo flute). Duke Mu of Qin specially built a Phoenix Tower for her, also known as the Qin Tower, where Nongyu would play the xiao for enjoyment.

Separately, King Ling of Chu was known for his fondness for women. He constructed the Zhanghua Palace and gathered the most beautiful women from all over the country to reside there for his amusement. Later generations came to refer to Zhanghua Palace as the Chu Lodge.
