During the Warring States period, a disciple of Zixia asked Mozi, "Is there a standard for a gentleman?" Mozi replied that there is no fixed standard for a gentleman.
Zixia's disciple then said, "Even dogs and pigs have their standards, how can those who commit evil acts have no standard?"
Mozi responded, "Those who speak eloquently but whose actions are worse than those of dogs and pigs cannot be called gentlemen."
