Story:

During the Later Tang Dynasty, Emperor Mingzong requested his officials at court to recommend a general to lead an army against the invading Khitan forces. Li Song recommended Shi Jingtang.

Shi Jingtang, who already harbored rebellious intentions, was grateful for this. He secretly sent someone to Li Song, saying, "To build a pagoda, one must complete its spire."

After gaining command of the large army, Shi Jingtang rebelled against the Later Tang and surrendered to the Khitan, eventually becoming their "puppet emperor."
