During the Jin Dynasty, Xun Xu once accompanied Emperor Wu of Jin on an outing. Conditions were extremely difficult, and they couldn't find firewood anywhere to cook. The chef had no choice but to dismantle the wooden wheels of an old cart they had brought along to use as fuel.
During the meal, Xun Xu told Emperor Wu of Jin, "This food was cooked using rotten firewood." Emperor Wu of Jin was skeptical and sent someone to inquire. It turned out to be exactly as Xun Xu had said.
