Story:
During the Northern Qi period, Chancellor Gao Yang and Gao Dezheng, a staff officer in his mansion, shared a very harmonious relationship. Gao Dezheng would speak his mind completely, holding nothing back, and Gao Yang would always listen and act upon his advice.
When Emperor Gaozu passed away in Jinyang, Prince Shizong of Bohai succeeded him. However, while attending to the funeral rites in Jinyang, Prince Shizong was assassinated by thieves. Gao Dezheng then rallied support for Gao Yang to ascend the throne as Emperor Wenxuan.
Gao Yang appointed Gao Dezheng as 'Shizhong' (a high-ranking court attendant), and they continued to work together in perfect accord.
