Origin and Story of 不修边幅
Towards the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Wei Xiao sent Ma Yuan to Sichuan to ally with Gongsun Shu against Liu Xiu. Ma Yuan and Gongsun Shu were old friends from the same hometown.
However, Gongsun Shu, finding Ma Yuan unkempt, sent officials to deliver official robes, pretending to be an emperor. Ma Yuan was very displeased and decided to seek refuge with Liu Xiu.
Seeing Liu Xiu's great vision and strategy, he went to Luoyang to join him. Later, he achieved numerous military successes and was bestowed the title of Fubo General.
