In 346 AD, General Huan Wen of the Jin Dynasty led his army upstream along the Yangtze River to attack the Shu Kingdom. As their boats entered the Three Gorges, his subordinates captured a baby ape and brought it onto the ship.
The mother ape, seeing this, became extremely anxious. She ran frantically along the riverbank, following the fleet for over a hundred li, risking her life.
When they reached Wuxia Gorge, she gathered all her strength, leaped onto the boat, and immediately died. When her body was examined, it was found that her liver and intestines were completely severed, a sight that moved everyone deeply.
