Story:
During the late Tang Dynasty, the imperial court was extremely corrupt, and the emperor led a lavish life. Meng Fu, an imperial physician who treated Emperor Zhaozong, frequently entered and exited the palace, witnessing its splendor.
During a period of war and turmoil, Meng Fu wandered to Sichuan to live. He adorned all the furniture in his house with gold paper. People who visited his room to rest would become 'dazzled by gold and intoxicated by paper' (金迷纸醉) by the opulence.
